Dutch glorie in white (what happened to red and blue?)
Nice WLA model in civilian white with a dutch Holandia sidecar attached to it. Look at the fenders on the motorcycle, this is the way the dutch importer/distributor of Harley-Davidson Maaskant, and before them de Delftse Motorenhandel dressed the warmachines up to make them more attractive for the general public.
They were sold like this (though mostly without the side car) for around 50 bucks for many years. Those were the days my friend!!!

Meeting a fellow gearhead

Got the chance 2 years ago to meet up with one of my biggest heroes at the Wantagh NY, Jones Beach theater...... Brian Setzer, the king of rockabilly!!

Brian knows old skool rockabilly and even big band swing like nobody else does....plus he knows about wheels, owning some Hot Rods, Rodded Triumph motorcycles, and Harley's and Indians throughout the years.... It was a big thrill meeting him there....especially after telling him we came all the way from the Netherlands to see him there and he commented: "Holland wow that's a long way, my grandparents were from Holland! I don't know the language, only some of the bad words..... Godverdomme" (Goddamned in dutch)...... Rock On!!!!!!!!!!

XA Wildlife

While Rommel's German army was taking it easy with their BMW's and Zundapp's the Patton's US army was struggling to get through the desert on their Harley WLA's. Though the WLA performed terrific in most any condition, the African desert didn't do it much good, because the chain final drive required a lot of maintenance, and with the sand getting between the links tended to break easily.

Therefor the US Army requested Harley-Davidson to come out with a shaft drive model so they could defeat Rommel's troops in Africa. They made their own version of the German BMW, and called it the XA. Around a 1000 of these were made in 1942, and didn't really get out of the prototype fase. By the time the XA was rideable, Rommel was close to being defeated in Africa, plus it's need was no longer necessary, because Willy's Jeep was out, and even more practical than the XA could ever be. Spotted this nicely restored XA from Belgium....a true rarity to see in the wild!!!

Kiwi Indian
This pristine green and white Indian, at first sight looks like an original shape early forties Scout......However if you look closely you discover modern disc brakes and modern electronics...... Even though the driveline looks pretty original still, it is not... It's produced by Kiwi in 2009, all reproduction..... This way you can have forties looks and style, with space age improvements......
